Major speculation in spy VS spy style:

Over at Hilton:
all benefits are "subject to availability" yet people are still flocking in droves because of the allure of auto-diamond via the Hilton Aspire card.

Marriott:
We can appease the owners by demoting 'guarenteed benefits / alternatives" to pure "subject to availability & capacity controlled"

-------

Over at IHG :
Hotels need only to release 5% of their standard rooms as award booking.
All major benefits are concealed behind the amount of milestone in nights threshold.

Marriott:
Our owners can do even better, we set no directive of minumum award rooms need to be available
Hmm, all major benefits are concealed behind the amount of milestone in nights threshold is good, but let's junction each elite level qualification needs nights AND spend $ requirement ( so similair to the qualification of Bonvoy Ambassadors : 100+ nights per year + $23,000+ USD qualifying spend per year would for example platinum 50 nights AND $10.000 spend )

------
Over at Hyatt:
Standard suite category is auto-upgrade for globalists & lifetime globalists who flock over for this lucrative benefits (blogs)

Marriott:
Owners can choose a standard suite category but no minimum amount suites need to provided, we tout this at ambassador benefit as enticing smart carrot dangling, nobody is the wiser

---------

Over at Accor
We have a lot of brands, sub brands and loose collection of mini chains with a lot of exclusions per region

Marriott,
We too have oodles of brands with exclusions but not yet per region, we can induce this per country to make our T&C even more confusing
We can do better for our owners, Bonvoy Elites can only earn EQN at midscale brands and up, budget brand to excluded

-------------------------------
Some costcutting Marriott ammunition already in position and could start rapidly expanding as a ripple:
- budget brands yield elites 2 N = 1 EQN only
- some hotels offer elites a breakfast credit only : it seems to work for US Hiltons quite fine
- Marriott CS sides with hotels in dispute

--------------
Major rumor
* Like an airline who rewards revenue F & C passengers with seperate FFP status,
Think SQ PPS, LH HON, AF/KL Ulti, ....l
only Bonvoy elites booking revenue in suites at would be able to attain a new "per invitation status",
and only that elite level would keep "guarenteed" benefits.
all other elite levels were to be demoted to subject to availability across all brands.
Think of something inbetween Ambassador and Cobalt in. It would still appeal to a lot of egos in status junkies anyway.
