Thanks enviroian. You are right, Barrow is not exactly the place where one would want to spend a longer holiday. The area has been inhabited by native people for more than 1500 years but nowadays I wonder what it's raison d'être is. Yes, it is the administrative center of the North Slope Borough, but I can't figure out what the local economy is based on. Maybe a member familiar with the matter can illustrate us.
