Having a Delta codeshare means you bought the ticket from Delta, so you would have to go through Delta for anything related to the ticket prior to check-in.
Things are always more straightforward when you buy the ticket from the airline in question. When you're dealing with codeshares, things are rarely so straightforward (because the marketing carrier and the operating carrier are different. You're adding an extra party/middleman which rarely makes things easy - too many cooks, and all that)

Understood I will have to go to Delta for any changes prior to check-in. What about after check-in opens? Will I get the same upgrade offers in the app, counter, and at the gate as if I was on a AF or KL ticket?
