SJC is now, has always been, and will always be, quicker and easier than SFO. Decent Priority Pass Lounge there too. But I don't think this particular construction should lead anyone to avoid SFO.
For departing passengers, it really doesn't change much. Yes, D can be a schlep from checkin. G,F,E are the same time and complexity from checkin to gate as they were before construction.
On arrivals, checked luggage for D arriving flights arrives in D baggage claim, and G,F,E,D, all have quick ways out.
For connecting passengers, I think all of the hikes are about the same, some slightly shorter, none significantly longer.
