I was booked on AC1169 to YZF last Thursday. The flight got us almost there when it did a 90 degree turn and the pilot announced we were headed to Edmonton due to snow in Yellowknife. the flight was rescheduled to Friday afternoon, which would have gotten me to Yellowknife after my (Westjet) flight home. (Yes it was intended to be a very short trip).

AC did put me up in a hotel in Edmonton and fly me back to YYZ from YEG on Friday for free, but am curious whether I would be able to get a refund on my flight given that they couldn't get me where I needed to go? (I suspect I won't get delay compensation since this was weather/safety related).
