Since reading the above advice on here many years ago, I always note down / add to my calendar the following 3 key times and my journeys through T5 have become one of the most relaxing aspects of my international travel:

T-60: target to pass the HAL BP scanners before security.
T-35: leave lounge (I.e. be walking out of the lounge!)
T-20: gate close.

Never failed, never got remotely nervous, includes many walks to B/C gates, and my least favourite A4.
