I completely understand this statement, but I have to ask: How are people passing up better fares then as claimed in this thread? If people are flying UA to get status and spending more/taking worse routings then there has to be instances where this is not true.
There’s three types of travelers into EWR: 1) NYC people that have access to other (better airports) like LGA and PHL where route options are more plentiful 2) New Jersey people that are either stuck with EWR (situation described above) and go with the options available out of that airport only 3) New Jersey people that can choose between EWR and PHL and have some more options
2 is probably the worst but any United flyer in the area has the displeasure of flying through EWR the most. The true cost of being loyal to United for me is needing to fly from EWR so much.
