The vast majority of my T5 flights haven’t shown a gate until at least t-50 and in many cases t-35 or later (for allegedly on time flights but obviously faced a delay in boarding). A recent flight showed an A4 departure with “go to gate” and “gate closing” soon after at t-50, causing me to move swiftly from the north lounge only to be held at the gate for approximately an hour while they got their ducks in a row, with a further on board delay as the fourth bus went AWOL.

I think BA’s sister EI has the right idea showing the gate close time as the departure time in their app. That’s all that matters these days. Who cares what the alleged fictional departure time is, all that matters is the final time to be accepted at the gate and the likely arrival time at the destination.
Cant really tell, tbh. we have no video footage of the whole ordeal and everything happens within seconds of each other.
It had happened to me before where I arrived at the gate 20+ minutes before ETD and gate was closed. Luckily they have fixed it in a way my trip was not compromised financially.
