17 hours transit at CDG. Can I SLEEP???
I was quite fortunate to score an award ticket using DL SkyMiles for the U.S. Memorial Day holiday (May 30th) from Atlanta to Bangkok. But it required a fairly screwball routing. I leave early ATL Sat. AM on DL to YUL (Montreal). Five hours transit in YUL, hoping that's enough to quickly get into the city and back, since I haven't been there in 9 years. Then I'm on the 5:30 PM AF flight to CDG (only one of three with a seat). Since I'll be in Affaires for the first time, I'll want to enjoy the service and, hopefully, the NTC seats (supposedly they're on that route already, according to this forum). When we touch down at CDG, it will be just 12:30 am Atlanta time and I will have gotten maybe 3 hours sleep if I force myself. Then I've got 17 hours in Paris, because AF moved the Bangkok flight from a 7:30 PM departure to an 11:30 PM departure.
I'll DEFINITELY go into Paris and do some sightseeing: walk around with some nice cheese and bread, read a book in a cafe, see some sights, pop into a museum, have a nice dinner. Though I'll be on my own, I won't miss the opportunity to soak up Paris (haven't been in 14 years), and I'm sure it will quickly be on our list of upcoming destinations.
But at the end of the LONG day, I'm gonna be totally wiped out. Even if I can make it through the day and get most of a full night's sleep on the CDG-BKK flight, I fear this trip may be setting itself up as my worst case of jet lag ever unless I get some rest during my CDG transit. I will arrive in BKK at 3:30 PM and have just one night there before heading onward (been to BKK before, so just using it as a stopover to rendez-vous with my Thai fiance).
WHERE CAN I SLEEP AT CDG? Looking for a quiet space where I can be secure knowing that my carry-on won't sprout legs and walk off, and also having some measure of reassurance that I won't sleep through my departure to BKK. If I can get even two or three hours at CDG, I'll be in a world of better shape. So, do any of the Affaires lounges have a quiet space with chaise lounges or the like? I'd rather not just doze off in a regular chair--had to do that at ICN, and it's just not cool. I'd like to avoid the cost, but what about a transit hotel?
Your kind assistance and advice is much appreciated. Merci.
