Yes the seat goes fully flat but unlike the majority of seats where you just hit a button and it goes fully flat while seated, the mattress is actually on the back of the vertical portion of the seat. So you have to stand up, have the backrest fold forward like you'd fold the seats of a car down to make a bigger trunk, then put your pillows down and climb into bed.
For some this can be annoying.
