I think you can see the fireworks from the garden view rooms? You just won't be able to see the towers at the same time. Having said that there weren't any NYE fireworks for the last three years at KLCC (2023, 2022 and 2021), so I wouldn't count on there being one this year. If there isn't one, you're better off taking the KLCC view room to see the light show.
I'm a bit confused about the no fireworks comment. You just mentioned yourself you were there less that 2 years ago and just did not see them because of the wrong room type. Also the internet has plenty reports and remarks of recent and upcoming NY fireworks. I don't need to see them from my room, some rooftop or restaurant (preferably in the GH) would be fine too.
