I flew BA8 yesterday and we sat in darkness for 10+ hours. In fairness the route over the Pacific, Alaska, Canada and the Atlantic is mostly dark so the window blinds being darkened was less of an issue that the cabin lights being turned off.

The food was extremely sparse. I’d go for JAL if you can.
