The arbitrage for buying partner J/F is closed. It was there when AS had a limited network and zero TPAC/TATL routes. They now sell tickets to Asia and likely will expand their long hauls in 2025.
I have a strong suspicion that AS is still the best carrier to credit these fares for the majority of the time. If you're buying fares more expensive that it makes sense to credit to a legacy carrier you'll book through AS if you want to stay with the program. Or not; the bean counters made the calculations and is incentivizing flying on their metal or codeshares/ticket stock.
