I have been flying with DE for the past four years and enjoyed the 200% EQM for flying in Business. It is true, under the new system, if you purchase directly through DE you will only get 125% EQM but book through AS you with get 250% EQM. I know prices can vary . AS realized a lot of fliers were using other partner sites for booking and gaining EQM for less spent.
The problem is that now the lowest fares on the AS website seem to be generally twice that on the partner airline. Even with the additional miles that is a strong disincentive to book on the AS website unless AS provides similar fares.
