As you say, time will tell, but I would bet against positive news. Any positive news would be published clearly on the website. There is really no reason they would highlight any "enhancements." Better for them to leave that for a later date and not announce. I would not book counting on it.

I am in a similar position. I am on the east coast and probably fly 25% domestic and 75% international (mostly Asia). AS has worked well for me, but it does not look good with the new changes. Another change is that it does not look as if elite bonus miles will be earned on partner airlines, and this might even be the case (although not clear) if booked through Alaska.
