Will be interested to see what the changes are specifically when UA announce what value they are going to place on expiring PPs. I understand that for domestic road warriors who are bound by corporate travel departments that this is a source of angst.
I too am able to use my PlusPoints, although without the success rate that you had. It is definitely NOT a scam and when used properly like on international long haul flights during the middle of the week, then it works just fine for me in these past 2 years.
But we all know that United will SELL those premium seats and they absolutely have the right to make money. So me, if I absolutely have to fly in Polaris or F domestic, then I find the best deal in Polaris and domestic F and book them, and I don’t sing the blues and complain that PlusPoints don’t clear and blah blah blah. PlusPoints DO clear but they may not clear on the flights that you want, that’s all.
I am now looking forward to being able to use PlusPoints in other ways, like gifting status.
