My wife and I have taken over 150 flights together across the past 3 years. We’ve put in for Plus Point upgrades on all but 2 of those trips. Our Plus Points have resulted in under 10 upgrades. We’ve finished 1 and 2 on the final waitlist at least 50 times. The whole thing just comes across as a scam.
I'm sorry that you've not had more success. As someone who burns 500+ PP's every year, I value them at thousands because I only apply them to long haul segments. I don't think its a scam. UA are a business and they can change/modify the rules anytime they want. We agree to those T&C's when we sign up to the program.
Will be interested to see what the changes are specifically when UA announce what value they are going to place on expiring PPs. I understand that for domestic road warriors who are bound by corporate travel departments that this is a source of angst.
