My vote goes to Provincetown or Portland.

Edited to add: I missed that you won't have a car. That definitely complicates matters. Provincetown is a great suggestion. Without a car I think I'd put Providence next on the list. Also, if you catch a very early train, you can do a day trip in NYC, if that interests you at all.
