For the past year I’ve read a fair amount of online discussion regarding if GE or MPC is faster these days. CBP seems to be promoting MPC (over GE) these days. If betting on MPC to be faster, can do MPC inputs and selfie while taxiing, skip past the GE kiosks and the few minutes to answer questions and have photo taken and (hopefully) go directly to a screening officer.

My decision to use MPC this time was based in part on my last 4-5 arrivals being faster with MPC due to a dedicated officer at the front of the MPC line expeditiously directing people to an available lane and also seeing many people waiting in line to get to the GE kiosks. That decision was reinforced by noticing far fewer GE kiosks than in the past and then again when the SO answered that they recommend MPC.

With newer technologies, perhaps mainly facial recognition, preferred screening methods change fairly often. Just as for departures we now often do not need to show a TSA agent a boarding pass, screening methods for arrivals are constantly changing and it’s challenging impossible to know ahead of time which method will be most expeditious.

GE app is relatively new (Sept 2023), I just downloaded it. Next time I’ll do both MPC and GE while taxiing and make a “game time” decision as to which line (to bet on).

Thanks again.
I haven’t read whatever you have, but I’ve been GE since day 1 (if I remember correctly, that means 15 years) and have never had to wait more than a few minutes to clear, including at JFK T8. I have the MPC app, and have used it only to assist others, never for myself.
