FWIW, USA citizen, Global Entry, MPC app on phone arrived American Airlines JFK T8 from LHR couple of nights ago, weeknight, about 8:00pm. Did MPC inputs while taxiing to gate, no bar code provided, app stated “go to lane 31”.
I'm not sure if I'm mis-reading your post. If you are Global Entry, why did you use the MPC app? If you're Global Entry, you should be using the kiosk or the Global Entry app. Could the issue you had have been user error?
