I’m in Boston next week for 6 nights, this will be my first time in Boston and New England. I’m thinking of going for a day trip out of town and thought about the following:

Salem
Plymouth
Providence, RI

The first 2 are guide book suggestions and Providence was my idea based on accessibility via Amtrak.

I’d appreciate thoughts on the above from locals and those familiar with the area. Plus any other suggestions. I won’t have a car. Thanks.

ps. Going to Cape Cod really appeals, but I’m not sure it’s viable for a day trip.
