Their kids found a new Samsung A13 and A14 very inexpensively and believing the salesman was being truthful when he said Amazon resellers would grab them at that price they bought them. They're having some growing pains with the Samsung interface and think their very cheap phones look cheap.

I have always been a little suspicious of lower-end Samsung devices because my mother had several of them in the past that were not great such as the Galaxy Q and J3 before she finally came around to buying the S models.

I can get an A54 (6GB/128GB) inexpensively on my carrier in Canada, I might grab that to reacclimate myself.
A14 is almost the lowest end A phone. A54 is the highest end but doesn't have 3.5mm

(There's A05, Samsung no longer makes A7x). If you compare to iPhone, yeah... Samsung mostly used same OneUi interface now for A and S phones, so curious what problems they have - remember to disable all bloatware and set the animation to 0.5x using developer tools

Used S22 (maybe S23) would be also around $200+
