This totally sucks as I booked this as a UA codeshare and I am a 1k member.
The latter being completely irrelevant. You could have booked it as an LH-coded flight and *still* would not be able to select those seats. And, as already mentioned, 1K status means nothing for LH in terms of seat assignments. They'll be available to you for selection during OLCI only if they're available.
