Scoot sucks in service, and for a low cost airline who is trying to sell you food, they really do not try hard enough. Their hot meals are just nasty. At the same time, they won't allow you to bring your own drinks and food. Now I just pack my own snacks and consume them discreetly after the crews complete the service. They really don't do much patrol in the cabin anyway. I really don't mind buying snacks but their crews just don't want to sell me any. They keep on telling me that they will come back, but end up hiding in galley chatting among themselves. Their crews are unmotivated to sell you any food, despite the fact that they earn commission. Other than the beginning, the service on Scoot ranges from indifferent to terrible after Covid.
However Scoot Plus offers a comfortable "premium economy" type recline seat with significantly more legroom and width than a typical economy seat. JAL offers a superb economy seat what is the best in the industry, but it is still an economy product.
Scoot's on time record is a bit less than impressive too, but is not as bad as other LCCs.
If you care about a comfortable seat, I will go with Scoot. If you want a bit more service, go with JAL economy.
