But if you're getting 40+ nights then you can choose the lounge pass as one of your rewards.

But just because someone has an IHG branded CC (not available in a lot of countries) and earn points that way really isn't an indication of loyalty towards the brand whereas staying in an actual IHG hotel does.

Shouldn't the latter generate more rewards than the former?
