The E175 doesn't have PE, so what you're calling Y+ is Economy Plus and therefore is treated as Economy for the purposes of clearing standby.

Agreed, but it doesn't really matter. The standby list is prioritized by status and then probably by fare class (although I don't think that's published the way that it is for upgrades); the order that you're added to the list might be the last tiebreaker but I doubt it's relevant very often. So no matter when you join the list, you're likely to have the same position on it when all is said and done.
The app may offer same-day standby options, but if it does not, you can be added at the airport. I'd try to arrive at least one hour prior to your desired departure, so you can ask at the counter, and if the counter agent refuses, you have time to get to the gate and ask then. If you have checked luggage, it is very difficult to get an agent to agree to standby, even though they have a procedure for handling standby luggage.
