Next month I’m flying AKL-SYD-JNB, QF4 to QF63, arrive SYD 08:20, depart SYD 09:30. All on a single QF ticket. I’ll have checked bags. What are the chances of a) me and b) my checked bags making this connection, assuming both flights are broadly on time? Seems there is only one departure per day from SYD to JNB. I’ll be in Business on both legs of that makes any difference.
SYD T1 arrivals at 08:20 just after the peak time. But still very busy.
Will be an airside transfer with a security check from SYD T1 international arrivals to T1 international departures.
That the airline sold you the flights on a single ticket indicates they are OK with the times.
QF4 is JFK-AKL-SYD. So easy to check if on time from USA.

QF140 06:00 07:35 [B737] At AKL checkin no harm is trying for the earlier flight, if available. Or change ticket before.
