Not an answer to your question - but do you really want to hang out in the airport for 8 hours?
You could take BART directly from the station in the International Terminal to Embarcadero and walk along the waterfront, BART ride is about 30 minutes. The Embarcadero is clean and not like the horror stories you might have heard about San Francisco.
