The RC is now the Lodge at Rancho Mirage & not as nice. Not bad, but not as nice. La Quinta is great for old-world feel - private casitas with their own pools & nice restaurants. Gorgeous grounds. We stay at the Hyatt Grand Champions - all rooms are suites. The RC has an odd schedule, which is worth checking out before you book if booking a RC room. There are also some private villas there. Others like the Esmeralda & I don't really consider the Desert Springs Marriott luxury (too crazy), but there's a new Marriott - Desert Ridge I think - that is getting very good reviews. The desert needed a really luxe property & I don't know why the RC sold...
