My nephew got married in KC last year when she was in town. They had the date and venue set before she announced the tour. They didn't have a hotel block. They ended up being able to get one nearby and the rooms were about double or triple what they normally were (I am not sure because we ended up finding a good deal on an airbnb). The problem ended up being with his grandparents on the other side of the family. They tried to check in Friday evening after the rehearsal dinner around 10pm and they had no rooms for them even though there was a reservation. They ended up finding a room nearby but was over $1k per night. I never heard if they were able to get any of that back. I know they were going to try.
