Marriott is a toothless organization and the Lurkers don't care either - I doubt the W management will come around and offer 'sensible' solutions.

To expect the St. Regis to take all the W guests that are being cancelled however maybe a step to far as the St. Regis is several steps up from the W and the owners and Marriott are very unlikely to be willing to swallow these costs. I think when issues happen, its great to try and get what you can, but you also need to be realistic about what maybe offered instead and moving all W bookings to St.R is just never going to happen!

And depending on personal preference, W is closer to the airport and has better sea conditions than JW.

In the end, it is unfortunate that we are not offered the same things as W.
But, I just want some "consideration."

I'm not convinced that everything has changed, but only the room rate has stayed the same!
It has been frustrating, because 2 weeks before the cancelation notice the W Maldives 'confirmed' that our reservation would be safe as the renovations would be completed prior. We bought non-refundable airplane tickets and also bypassed other available hotel options for the same dates. Then I get a rebooking notice for the JW. Our entire trip is built around snorkeling. The W has that for sure, so we originally chose it. The JW is not up to those standards for us. Ironically, other than the JW, the other option the W Maldives gave us was to change the dates to mid-January.
