Comparing a few NYC hotels we've stayed in over the past few years including The Carlyle, Ritz Carlton (Central Park), St Regis and Aman New York the choice for a quiet room is clear - the Aman. We found it pin drop quiet, even with rooms facing the street. We did not experience any noise coming from the halls either because the room entrance has a small vestibule with pocket doors that can be closed. Hope that helps.
