I no longer understand how BA manage to function as an airline as everything about them is so tinpot. Nothing works like it should and the staff are hamstrung by reactionary management that has no interest in the customer, only their wallet.
Well the person responding to your request doesn't understand the data protection principles

The 4th principle is

Article 5(1) requires that personal data shall be:

accurate and, where necessary, kept up to date; every reasonable step must be taken to ensure that personal data that are inaccurate, having regard to the purposes for which they are processed, are erased or rectified without delay (‘accuracy’);
So your authentication details that are necessary to use the services offer by British Airways to their data subjects requires them to maintain accurate authentication data, and be prepared to rectify inaccurate authentication data without delay.

Customer services seem unable to do this hence you are escalating to the data protection team to exercise your right as it is enshrined on law. How they deliver the remedy, either themselves or by reaching out to other operational team members to reset your authentication details is at the discretion of the data protection team.
