I'm 5600 SQD short of requalifying for SE as my flying dropped off this autumn. I *think* it's worth it, given my plans for overseas family travel (I'd get 2 more J PRs this year, plus 5 J PRs rather than PY PRs next year, plus the huge benefit of free changes/cancellations on reward flights, aside from the other SE benefits). It's borderline though.
Easiest option is Alberta flight passes. Zero time or effort. But I'm wondering if there is an SQD run that would either get a lot more SQM than 30k, or be interesting/cool in some way. My problem is my free time is very limited.
Am in EDI at the moment, so would be looking for a UK/EU departure. The best I've seen is about $1600 CDN for BCN-YYZ/YUL-SFO/LAX return in PY. If I did that 4 times I'd get 60k SQM. But I can't see having the time for that in the next 2 months plus if you add up hotels, repositioning, etc., it gets pricey. I haven't figured out how to do same day turns on any international routes, which would help.
Does anyone have suggestions? I *may* have to be in YUL/YYZ briefly around Dec 1 so a run from there would also work.
