I did some looking around and I see two other nearby hotels charging a $15 per night Resort Fee. I don't see any credit card fee at those. One is called Maverik Casino/Red Lion (Sonesta) and the other is an older affiliated property across the road from that casino (exterior corridor, actually was the first Red Lion there in the 70's and has had BW and America's Best Value Inn flags since). I've stayed in both of those properties in the past and they did not previously have a Resort Fee however that is pretty common practice in the casino hotels.
The fact that the property appears to be posting suspiciously positive reviews on Google and Trip Advisor at least shows someone is paying attention... the problem is I don't think the hotel management has any power over these fees. These are an issue with the ownership group. The hotel management probably gets so much grief about these fees they'd love to see them rolled into the rates too.
The property is fine- typical modern Holiday Inn Express. These fees are the problem.
