Just another data point. I am currently at a Fairfield Inn (in a different state), and my room here also has a sign with a QR code you can use if you want to leave a tip by credit card or Apple Pay. There was also an additional card (which also contains the same QR code) that specifically says that 100% of your tip goes to “your room attendant.” That second, smaller card says that “if you have considered leaving a gratuity, we are pleased to offer a cashless method for your convenience.” Both have the Fairfield Inn logo, which makes me think this is likely to also be available in other hotels in that brand.

This one is a bit different than the one I found in a Courtyard several days ago, because the QR code takes you to something where you can also choose to tip people other than housekeeping, including front desk, breakfast staff, and maintenance, presumably if someone did something so above and beyond for you that you wanted to tip them, too, but didn’t have cash handy.

Looks like this new, more convenient method of tipping is becoming more prevalent.
