A product change (not 100% it is possible in this case) changes your existing card to another type and allows you to maintain the "credit" history.
If you open a new card and cancel the PresPlus, it does potentially impact your credit history. Depends on what other long-lived cards you have,

Folks in Chase | Ultimate Rewards are more knowledgeable on this.
Chase will generally let you open a new card and transfer your credit balance between cards. So, open this new card, transfer your credit from the other card and then cancel the other card.
