Cancelled flight to AMM, problems rebooking to Qatar
Hi,
I was scheduled to fly LHR-AMM in CE on an Avios ticket. My flight got cancelled (it looks like along with all BA services to Amman until December).
I called BA and they said the policy is either a refund or they can rebook me on Qatar in the same cabin. I opted for the latter and the problem now is Qatar brands the regional flights out of DOH as First class, which doesn't fit the rebooking policy. I explained that this is actually business class to the agent and they agreed with me after checking the QR website. But after a long hold they're saying "Oneworld says no" and are offering as a last resort to check internally whether they can violate the policy.
Alternatively I asked if they can book the second flight in economy and I then upgrade it using Avios (there's availability currently for my dates) but the agent wasn't sure about this and recommended first waiting for a response to an internal team they escalated to.
Has anyone been in a similar situation? How does BA usually treat this QR "first" class flights for rebooking purposes?
