I just received a call from a Birmingham number claiming to be BA Customer Relations (and which seems to be their number) and wanting just 5 minutes of my time.
But then before proceeding they wanted my name and email address, which I refused to give and the agent wouldn't tell me anything about why she was calling without that information. So we were at a stalemate and she said she would email me with details - but nothing yet received.
All very odd, and I imagine most people here would refuse to disclose information to. a cold call like this. If it was a genuine call then there was something very unprofessional about it, and if it was a scam then it was well constructed.
But I thought it was worth sharing in case others receive something similar.
As BA use BT Genesys if you receive a call from Manchester or Newcastle it will show as a Birmingham phone number.
For outbound calls we do still have to clear data protection with the caller before we disclose information.
This could have potentially been a genuine call.
