I understand the OP. The trains are not very comfortable, not clean and also not fast. In addition there are many strikes, this week again. Portugal lacks money and leadership to build a high speed train to Porto, Faro and Madrid.

I usually fly as well. A bad TP is still better than a broken CP. I can have a nice drink at the lounge, look out of the window and sue for 250€ plus alternative transport in case something goes wrong.
