I’ve done two extensive multi-carrier rewards and idly looked at TATL stuff a fair bit - I’ve never seen an AA long-haul premium seat for sale with Avios. So unless you want Y, I’d give up on that.

As mentioned, JAL do put unsold inventory up a couple of weeks out- but for Christmas that’s not likely to be a great bet either.
