Small but important clarification - Ali and WeChat pay outside the PRC are for PRC citizens only. I'm a resident in the PRC (on a residence permit) but can't use Alipay or WeChat outside of China. You need an ID card that comes with citizenship.
I wonder how far that goes to
i) Foreigners holding Residency Permits
ii) HRP holders
iii) Non-Chinese HK permanent residents holding Mainland Travel Permits (OK this one is probably a no, but (i) and (ii)?)
