Brain trust: my 14 y/o son will be 61 PQPs short of gold. he currently has 1K but he didn't fly as much this year. his last flight around Xmas is already in Polaris so nothing to upgrade to (he's ticket is together with the entire family's). We're on a P fare, and I'm afraid upgrading to the next fare will be prohibitive, especially if I have to do it for all family members. I don't want to split his record in case of IRROPS. He gets E+ already. From the UA website, I don't see much I can purchase on his behalf to make up for the difference. his reservation shows offers for wi-fi and award accelerator. his PQP offer under award accelerator is $1,040 for 700 PQPs, that's overkill for Gold status. He can also buy 13,000 award miles for $319. that's doable, but does it count? does wi-fi purchase count? Any ideas? TIA
