It was none of your business who the passengers were. If unhappy with how it was handled, then you state that without needing to ask who they were. As others have said, there could have been other reasons for being held and they were simply escorted to front as the aircraft was fully ready at that stage.

The crew member who said that the passengers were “home office diplomats “ should know better than to give out information regarding the status of any other passenger.
