Gold, personal card. $16k spend last year. No retention offer last year. This year offered 25k for $2k spend in 3 months. Took the offer.

Before getting to this offer they tried to get me to pay off the fee using MR points at a "special" rate: "As you are our valued card member, we can use special rate where you would get $10 per 1000 Membership reward points as one-time exception. That way we can pay off the annual fee charged with just 32,500 Membership reward points which would have savings of around 21,667 Membership reward points for you for keeping your Gold card active". I hadn't seen them push this option before, and I obviously declined it.
