Do these bags seal when shut? Wouldn't the bag eventually explode depending on the size of the fire?
This video is of a news report from eight years ago when the bags were first being deployed. It shows a demonstration of their use with a burning notebook computer.
I've always been curious, I understand why they need to be removed if the bag is being checked but why do batteries need to be removed from smart bags in the cabin?
The problem with the smart bags is that you won't be able to remove the battery from the bag when it's burning. A loose battery inside a bag can be removed by opening the bag and taking it out.
