Korakia Pensione is a great place to stay. Not a chain. Wonderful rooms, art, pools, fires, food,views. Consider this and stay outside the norm. Korakia.com
I recommend the Nash House or the Artist Studio. This is in the Tennis Club area of Palm Springs. Very nice low key people who get it stay here.
