Haha, not directly at least! The 80 mph speed limit is on the Interstate highway. I got caught by the Sheriff’s deputy on a state highway a few miles outside of town. The frustrating part is that there was absolutely no one on the road for the last few miles, but rules are rules I suppose.

Yep! As much as I love traveling the world, there’s nothing like a good ol’ fashioned road trip in the US because there’s a ton to see.

Luckily there's lots of more things to see in the area but Mt Rushmore and Wall Drug are both disappointing although the latter is just something we passed on the way so no big deal.

Thanks for sharing. I would go back and I see more inspiration for more roadtrips.
Haha! Exactly. Mount Rushmore is something to see once, and no need to go back. I would love to go back to Badlands or heck even visit Sturgis during the rally to see the chaos. Glad you were able to make it to parts of the US that don’t get a lot of overseas tourist, and I hope you have a chance to come back soon!

😂 That sounds far worse!

Thanks, 757! West SD is definitely quite the sight.

On a side note, do you have any restaurant recommendations for casual dining in BTR? We tend to hit the same 4-5 places year after year.
It was a private balcony! There’s another patio room to the left with its own private patio and the pool area to the right. There’s a good sized privacy partition between my patio and the pool area, but there’s just some waist high planters forming a barrier between the two private patios.

I hate to admit this, but I actually like the Baton Rouge food scene a lot better than NOLA’s I don’t go to many places but I like:

Solou- modern Cajun
Parain’s. - tradition LA restaurant
Blue Store Chicken - fast food, but some of the best fried chicken around. Their 3 piece combo with red beans is $8, and the portions are huge. That lasts me two meals!
Mansur’s on the Blvd - A little more upscale
Chef Don Bergeron’s City Market
