I dunno, that photo actually highlights, to me at least, how low the ceilings are. I also remember the doors being slightly shorter than usual doors, because the ceilings were so low. As a result, the low ceilings aren't necessarily as evident in the photos.
I remember feeling like I had to duck all the time in the hotel room I visited and also in the function room on the second floor I was in, and feeling very claustrophobic.
I guess we all experience things differently.
The St. Regis next door (originally built around the same time) was definitely torn down due to its low ceilings, news coverage of the demolition talked about it.
It'll be interesting to see what brand takes over this property, it's already been a JW Marriott, a Park Hyatt and an InterContinental.
