then you might be able to get a good deal on a connection with AA for the outbound portion of your trip:
(AA allows one free checked bag per passenger on trans-Atlantic award and cash flights -- except for cash flights booked in Basic Economy.) You could still transfer your Chase points to one of Chase's airline partners for the flight back from AMS.
I would also price the open-jaw roundtrip as a cash ticket, as your Chase UR points can be redeemed as cash towards travel booked through the Chase travel portal.
